Name is Rose, named after my great-grandmother. I am 34, and a chronic advocate. I live in the UK with my husband and our son, Jareth.

When I first created this site, I was living in Seattle. I was heavily into the Seattle scene, but I found a serious irritation in the fact that everyone looked alike - pale, black hair, etc etc. There seemed to be no goths of colour anywhere, but for another woman who felt the same. I decided, therefore, to make this page. And wow, what a reaction - y'all came out of the woodwork!

I wrote articles for Morbid Outlook and what was the Gothic Preservation Society (also run by a goth of colour). I got a lot of email, and a little hate mail too. For a long time, I didn't update this site as I decided to move on from the "labels" (I still wear black, still listen to "trad-goth"; I can't just change who I am). But I was still getting emails, at least once a week. It encouraged me to keep the site going, not for me, but for all of you who have been searching the net wondering if you're the only person with dark, red, yellow, or brown skin in a sea of white.

And that's why this hep' mama goth is here. For y'all.
